I completely agree with your assessment regarding our government's claim to transparency, whether it is on the local, State, or federal level, Wendy. Without those of us who are paying attention and doing our best to bring our findings to the general public's attention, the problem would be magnified exponentially.
As far as Open Carry goes, RCC is actually a Right-to-Carry organization that promotes both OC and concealed carry. Personally, I prefer concealed carry myself but there are arguments that are valid for both practices. Honestly, both Open Carry and concealed carry complement each other quite nicely when it comes to the deterrence of violent crime.
